Lifting the lid on computer filth

In a recent independant study on the cleanliness of office equipment, scientist uncovered some startling findings. Organic debris from a keyboard in a typical London office was collected and this is what was found:

• food crumbs
• chocolate
• dead insects
• fingernail pairings
• dead skin
• hair

In another study scientist from the US analysed dust from the inside of a computer and found 5 TYPES OF FUNGUS THAT CAN CAUSE ILLNESS.

In yet more evidence uncovered, microbiologists state the a person afrfected by cold or flu will transfer germs to surfaces they touch within the office, these germs can survive and spread for up to 72 hours.

SCIENTISTS CONLUDED THAT OFFICE WORKERS ARE EXPOSED TO MORE BACTERIA FROM THE PHONES AND KEYBOARDS THAT THEY USE ON A DAILY BASIS THAN FROM THE AVERAGE TOILET SEAT!

What can we do about it?

Independant research states that in equipment that was cleaned by specialists, the bacteria levels dropped by 99%.

The Primary Computer Clean

With this specialised service the computer case is opened, and the motherboard, processor, cooling fans and all accessible surfaces are vacuumed to remove accumulated dust and debris - this prevents overheating and potential data loss as well as extending the lifespan of your equipment. External surfaces are then cleaned and sanitised

The keyboard is air dusted and vacuumed in order remove dust and grime from beneath the keys and then all external surfaces cleaned and sanitized - including the keys.

The monitor/screen - external surfaces are cleaned and then the screen itself is thourougly cleaned and anti-static coating is applied to help prevent future build up of dust. Having a clear screen not only helps avoid eye strain it also looks good, and creates a smart image!

The Mouse - a grime build up inside the mouse or on the optical sensor leads to a cursor with a life of its own, which can be very frustrating. The ball and rollers are cleaned, or the optical sensor cleaned and external surface are cleaned and sanitised.

The connecting cables are wiped and the connections air-dusted.

The Secondary Computer Clean

With the secondary clean, the keyboard, monitor and mouse are cleaned and sanitised as set out in the Primary Clean.
The main unit is cleaned externally but the case is NOT opened, and all connecting cables are wiped clean and connections are air-dusted.
